Reductil

Reductil (sibutramine) can be prescribed for patients suffering from excessive weight. This is a popular appetite suppressant intended for the treatment of obesity and supposed to be taken by people to whom it was recommended. Pregnant or breastfeeding women must not be prescribed this medicine unless this kind of treatment is justified and the benefits outweigh potential risks. The following drugs must be reported to your doctor if you have recently taken them or intend to take in the nearest future, as they can interact with Reductil: migraine headache medicines, ergot medicines, narcotic pain medications, and tryptophan. Such diet pills as phentermine, benzphetamine, phendimetrazine, or methamphetamine are not supposed to be combined with Reductil as they can cause very dangerous and possible life-threatening effects that could be avoided. Combination of MAO inhibitors (selegiline, isocarboxazid, phenelzine, tranylcypromine etc) and Reductil is also expected to produce dangerous side effects. Therefore, before you take any other medicine and combine it with Reductil, talking to your health care provider or your pharmacist is obligatory. Make sure you let your doctor know in advance about any of the following medical conditions: heart disease, high blood pressure, history of gallstones, any bleeding disorder, underactive thyroid, depression, glaucoma, history of heart attack or stroke, liver or kidney disease, and seizures. Some of them can require additional tests to establish the safety of taking Reductil while other ones will make it impossible for you to take this medication safely. Call your doctor at once if you notice such serious side effects as sore throat, anxiety, depression, itching, vomiting, eye pain, chest pain, stomach pain, seizures, shortness of breath, restlessness, muscle stiffness, confusion, change in vision, fainting, pounding heartbeat, lightheadedness, dizziness, hoarseness, nausea, and unusual bleeding or bruising. Less serious side effects are more likely and can include runny or stuffy nose, sore throat, mild skin rash, dry mouth, headache, cough, upset stomach, constipation, loss of appetite, dizziness, back pain, and insomnia. Some medicines can add to sleepiness sometimes caused by Reductil. Avoid taking cold or allergy medicines, muscle relaxers, sedatives, narcotic pain medicines, depression or anxiety medications, sleeping pills, or medicines for seizures if Reductil is already making you sleepy.
